Mark Tromp: My family has been through a difficult period

He released a statement to the media

Mark Tromp has apologised for the ‘hurt and concern’ caused by the events following his family’s road trip.

The Tromp family drove from their farm at Silvan, east of Melbourne to New South Wales last week. The trip resulted in two family members being admitted to hospital and father Mark Tromp was reported missing until Saturday. Another member has since been charged with theft.

The Age reported one of the parents experienced a mental health episode, which spread through the rest of the family until they were all convinced someone was after them.

Mr Tromp said in a statement to the media on Tuesday: ‘In recent days my family has been through a difficult period.

‘We will soon be reunited together, I hope that we will begin to make sense of our ordeal and return to a normal life.

‘I am conscious of the burdern these events have placed upon our extended family, friends and the community resources devoted to our aid.

He finished by thanking the Victoria and New South wales police and health care professionals.

‘More than anything, my family and I need time to recover and receive appropriate assistance, including mental health services.’
