With two young sons, Lara Bingle’s life has changed dramatically in the last few years. Gone are the days where she made headlines for her risqué lifestyle now, Lara has caused stir over a children’s toy that is damaging to young kids health.
Lara posted to her Instagram a horrifying picture of a popular kids Sophie The Giraffe, a best selling toy to aid with teething.
The picture showed the inside of the toy, which had mould scattered all over. ‘Bath toys with holes in them are not safe!’ the blonde beauty wrote, while tagging the official account for Sophie the Giraffe.
The Sophie toy has an air hole in the bottom to allow children to squeeze it and is designed to be safe for teething infants to chew.
It seems Lara was alerted to the health hazard when another mother, Dana Chianese, a paediatric dentist from New Jersey, opened up her child’s Sophie after noticing an odd smell.
Upon opening the toy, she discovered the inside of the rubber toy was covered in black mould.
Dana spoke to Good Housekeeping about the issue.
‘I decided to cut into Sophie out of curiousity and discovered a science experiment living inside. Smelly, ugly mold living in my infants favourite chew toy!’
The toy appears to be a favourite of celebrities with Miranda Kerr, Kate Hudson, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Nicole Richie, Amy Adams and Isla Fisher using the toy.
