Kate Ritchie and her fellow radio hosts have come under fire for their banter on a baby who was born with an adult-sized tongue.
Kate, along with Tim Blackwell and Marty Sheargold featured the baby on their Nova 96.9 show, explaining that Paisley Morrison-Johnson who has Beckwith-Wiedemann Syndrome, had undergone tongue reduction surgery.
The trio went on to ask the question: ‘What have you got that’s big?’
The segment drew criticism with one mum from Victoria taking to Facebook to express her outrage that the trio used the baby’s condition as a “comedy act”.
The mother wrote: ‘I am appalled at you Kate Ritchie as someone I have followed since my childhood, who is a mother, that you could make such disgraceful comments about our babies.’
A spokesperson from Nova has responded saying the hosts apologise for their comments which were “ill-considered”.
