Karl Stefanovic’s estranged wife Cassandra Thorburn has discussed their split in a new open letter – clarifying some of her controversial statements earlier this week.
The stay-at-home mum called her split from Today host Karl ‘one of the hardest times of mine and my children’s lives’.
Referring her Facebook post in which she took some of the credit for the Today show’s recent ratings, she insisted the statements were not said in either anger or malice.
‘I can guarantee you I did not write the Facebook post after drinking a bottle of red, as was suggested,” she wrote on website Pop Sugar. ‘That was my first glass in the photo.
‘I’d just poured it, to celebrate something that played a huge role in my life for so long.
‘There was no malice intended and I certainly didn’t expect to be picked to pieces for it.’
Cassandra had earlier congratulated herself for the part she played in the show’s success.
‘Apparently Today Show finally won a year,’ the 44 wrote on Facebook, adding, ‘This took a huge toll on my family and I, and I’m congratulating myself today for all the effort that went into making that happen.’
Since Karl joined the show 12-years-ago, Cassandra says she has been the driving force behind him and his work.
