John Travolta has opened up about his family’s heartache following the loss of his son Jett in 2009, crediting their newest addition Ben with helping them heal.
Tragically losing 16-year-old Jett when he hit his head on the bathtub during a seizure, John, his wife Kelly, and daughter Ella Bleu, now 16, welcomed Ben into their family almost two years later.
‘Certainly having little Ben has been a beautiful kind of glue for us to rebond after tremendous loss,’ the 62-year-old actor said in an interview with Good Morning America.
Having tried to conceive their third child for three years, John said Ben had ‘given the house a renewed spirit and purpose’ following his 2010 arrival.
Describing the death of his son as ‘the worst thing that’s ever happened in my life’ John says he lost the will to live in the months following.
‘The truth is, I didn’t know if I was going to make it. Life was no longer interesting to me, so it took a lot to get me better,’ he says.
