Rescuers burst into applause at the news the five-year-old had been found at a nearby underpass after running away from her family home at approximately 4.30pm yesterday.

Over 100 police and SES volunteers scoured the area surrounding the girl’s Nerang when an Amber Alert was issued on Sunday.

Last seen wearing a pink t-shirt with a ladybird on it, dark blue denim shorts and no shoes, police are urged members of the public who may spot the girl known as ‘Jocelyn’ to resist approaching her and contact the authorities instead.

‘This little girl does have a medical condition and is probably not likely to respond like a normal child her age might,’ said police.

Described as Caucasian in appearance with blonde shoulder-length hair, blue eyes and approximately 115m tall, Jocelyn was last spotted by a member of the public at 5.30pm yesterday approaching a residence.

In a touching show of community support, residents in the area left care packages outside their homes for Jocelyn overnight, which included blankets, teddy bears, food and water.

Ray White Surfers Paradise also put the call out for volunteers to help in the search after revealing Jocelyn was the daughter of one of their staff members.

‘She’s a valued member of our team,’ said CEO Andrew Bell.  ‘It would be gut-wrenching for any parent. A whole bunch of our staff are out here so it’s all hands on deck. We’ve just got to be supportive.’
