Jaycee Dugard spent 18 years held in captivity against her will. But despite everything she has been through, the 36-year-old still hopes to find love one day.
In her second memoir, published in People this week, Dugard says she feels ‘totally capable of having a relationship one day.’
Adding, ‘when the time is ready.’
Phillip and Nancy Garrido abducted an 11-year-old Dugard in 1991, while she was on her way to school.
Help prisoner for 18 years, Dugard was drugged and raped by Garrido, who also fathered who two daughters.
Opening up about her daughters, Dugard said: ‘I’m so excited for them and so proud of all the challenges they have overcome,’ she told PEOPLE.
One is in college and the other is about to start.
Explaining why she hasn’t included more about her daughters in her books, she writes, ‘I have chosen it to be this way for the simple reason that I believe they deserve the right to their own stories. One day if they want to, they can write them their way.’
