Mother of murdered toddler James Bulger lives in fear that her son’s killers are tormenting her, following a mysterious torrent of online abuse directed at the grieving mum.
Denise Fergus said in a new interview that she believes Jon Venables and Robert Thompson could be attacking anonymously, 23 years after they tortured and beat her so to death.
Speaking in a Channel 5 documentary, the mum of three said: ‘I sometimes think: “Is it a member of their family or could it be them?” Because they could easily get in touch with me.
‘They’ve been told not to but what’s to stop them writing to me on social media and pretending to be somebody else?
‘It’s really scary and the thought often goes through my mind it could be one of them.’
James was murdered 22 years ago when two boys tortured and beat him to death before placing his body across train tracks.
Venables and Thompson were jailed for the murder of the two-year-old in 1993, and were given new identities by the British Government when released from prison.
Similarly, a woman was found guilty last month of sending ‘vile’ messages to Denise online, claiming to be ‘Bulger’s Ghost’ and ‘John Venables’.
