With so many of the surrounding Castle Hill home-owners selling up, Domain reports Ruth’s home has become a ‘development target.’

‘They kept coming back. You’ll never believe what they ended up offering me – $26 million,’ she said.

But the mother of six children and six grandchildren ‘told them no’, adding, ‘I don’t care if they offer me $50 million.’

Despite her children wanting her to sell, Ruth said ‘it’s irrelevant to me.’

‘Things are changing, I can see that happening, and I think I will be lonely here in a way when the neighbours move out and they pull their houses down. But money isn’t everything.’

‘Why would I leave?’ she said, ‘Where would I go? I’m very happy here. There’s nowhere else I’d rather be. This is my home.’
