I think it’s safe to say that everyone has had to deal with the brunt of a hard-to-clean pan. Even after a night of soaking, your pan still requires an unprecedented amount of elbow grease.
But, fear not! Even the worst pans can be rescued with these tried-and-tested methods.
White vinegar
Believe it or not white vinegar can be used for more than just salad dressing, it is also proven to be an exceptional cleaning agent.
Once the pan is cooled, scrape out as much of the burnt residue that you can. Using a damp cloth, wipe away any remaining residue, before pouring a cup of vinegar into the pan and boil for seven minutes. Once the vinegar has cooled down add a teaspoon of dishwashing liquid, grab a scourer, and gently wipe the burnt residue away while taking care not to scratch your pan.
Soak in bicarb or baking soda
Bicarb soda is one of the easiest and effective ways to clean a stubborn pan! Scrape out as much residue as you can, and then fill the pan with boiling water and add three teaspoons of bicarb and mix until combined. Leave the pan to sit for 24 hours before washing as usual.
Freeze overnight
Yep, you read right! When burnt food is frozen, it actually becomes a lot easier to clean. Scrub off the burnt residue and was as normal.
Clean with Coca-Cola
Got a spare can of Coke laying around? The popular refreshment is a great cleaning tool. Fill the pan with enough Coca-Cola to cover the dirty areas and let sit for several hours. Use the scourer to remove as much of the residue as possible before washing.
A layer of tomato sauce
Pour a thick layer of tomato sauce over a hard-to-clean pan and let sit overnight. The acid from the tomatoes eats away the burnt areas. The next day you should only need to wash away the residue.
