Elizabeth Smart tells: My kidnapper’s sick secret motive

How her ‘living hell' was made worse

Kidnap victim Elizabeth Ann Smart has opened up on why she believes her kidnapper snatched her, in a heartbreaking tell-all about how his porn addiction made her ‘living hell worse’.

Elizabeth tells her story in a video for “Fight The New Drug,” which raises awareness about the harm pornography can cause, reports CBS News.

‘It [pornography] just led to him raping me more, more than he already did, which was a lot,” said Elizabeth, now 28. ‘Looking at pornography wasn’t enough for him. ‘Having sex with his wife after looking at pornography, it wasn’t enough for him. Then it led him to finally going out and kidnapping me. He just always wanted more.’

She added: ‘All I know is that pornography made my living Hell worse.’

Elizabeth was kidnapped from her home in June 2002 when she was 14 years old.

‘When I was 14, I remember crawling into bed next to my younger sister and falling to sleep. The next thing I remember hearing was a man’s voice saying, “I have a knife at your neck, don’t make a sound. Get up and come with me.’”

Knowing her sister was still in bed next to her alive, she did what the man said.

Elizabeth recalls a time when her captor was excited to show her something: ‘a magazine full of hardcore pornography.

‘I remember he would just sit and look at it and stare at it, and talk about these women,’ she said. ‘And then when he was done, he would turn and he’d look at me and he’d be like, ‘now, we’re going to do this.’ It just led to him raping me more, more than he already did, which was a lot.’

Smart was rescued after nine months and testified that her captor, Brian David Mitchell, raped her 3-4 times daily.
