A dying father gave his daughter away in a touching hospital-room ceremony before passing away just three days later.
When bride Candice Hammonds received the news her father’s health was taking a turn for the worse, she and her fiance Thomas Burkett scrambled to move their wedding date forward by a month so her dad could be there.
Staff at Upson Regional Medical Centre pulled out all the stops to ensure the couple could say their “I dos” by Steve Hammonds’ bedside.
‘People started pulling things together to make this wedding take place in 24 hours,’ Candice’s mother Teresa Hammonds told a local news station.
When the pastor asked who was giving the bride away, bed-bound Steve raised his hand.
‘It was the last gift he could give his little girl,’ said Teresa.
