A student participating in the Disney College Program, who was fired for sharing a sign advising staff members how to respond to alligator questions, has been rehired.
Shannon Sullivan, who works in Magic Kingdom restaurants, told PEOPLE she was offended by the sign, which said, ‘If a guest asks if we have gators in the water around Tom Sawyer’s island (or any other bodies of water), the correct and appropriate response is, “Not that we know of, but if we see one, we will call Pest Management to have it removed.”’
The sign added, ‘Please not say that we have seen them before.’
Following the tweet, Sullivan said she was fired and escorted from the premises.
The Orlando Sentinel reported that on Friday Magic Kingdom Vice President Dan Cockerell personally offered Sullivan her job back.
‘The story is accurate,’ a Disney spokeswoman confirms to PEOPLE, adding, ‘It was not a company sanctioned sign.’
