Amber Alert: Where is Jocelyn?

Overnight search fails to find missing five-year-old

A desperate search for a five-year-old Gold Coast runaway is currently underway in Queensland after police and rescue workers were unable to locate the girl overnight.

Over 100 police and SES volunteers have been scouring the area surrounding the girl’s Nerang home since Sunday afternoon when an Amber Alert was issued.

Last seen wearing a pink t-shirt with a ladybird on it, dark blue denim shorts and no shoes, police are urging members of the public who may spot the girl known as ‘Jocelyn’ to resist approaching her and contact the authorities instead.

‘This little girl does have a medical condition and is probably not likely to respond like a normal child her age might,’ said police.

Described as Caucasian in appearance with blonde shoulder-length hair, blue eyes and approximately 115m tall, Jocelyn was last spotted by a member of the public at 5.30pm yesterday approaching a residence.

In a touching show of community support, residents in the area left care packages outside their homes for Jocelyn overnight, which included blankets, teddy bears, food and water.

Ray White Surfers Paradise have also put the call out for volunteers to help in the search after revealing Jocelyn was the daughter of one of their staff members.

‘She’s a valued member of our team,’ said CEO Andrew Bell.  ‘It would be gut-wrenching for any parent. A whole bunch of our staff are out here so it’s all hands on deck. We’ve just got to be supportive.’

Anyone with information is urged to call 000 or Crime Stoppers via 1800 333 000.
