Brad Pitt’s child abuse investigation has reportedly been referred to the FBI.

According to TMZ the actor became ‘verbally’ and ‘physically’ abusive with with one if his children while on their private plane on September 14.

 
A source told PEOPLE that The L.A. County Department of Children and Family Services are investigating after an anonymous complaint.

  

‘The DCFS investigation is absolutely ongoing,’ the source says. ‘Brad has been interviewed and is cooperating fully. The case remains open.’

Additionally, children’s services spokesman Armand Montiel told USA TODAY in an email: ‘The law does not allow us to confirm or deny the subjects or content of our investigations.’

TMZ updated its story to say the accusations were referred to the FBI because they allegedly took place in the air.

The date of separated listed for Brad and Angelina is listed as 15 September, the day after the incident. 

A source told TMZ Brad ‘takes the matter very seriously and says he did not commit any abuse of his children.’
