Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s bitter split is not only becoming one of the most expensive divorces in Hollywood history, but now US publication, the National Enquirer has learned their feud is tearing their family apart.
The former couple has reportedly racked up more than $15million in legal fees, and with no end in sight, insiders have sensationally claimed that the former couple’s six children are taking sides.
‘They are a family divided,’ a source explosively told the Enquirer.
Last month, devoted dad Brad successfully blocked Ange from permanently moving to London with their six children – Maddox, 16, Zahara, 13, Shiloh, 12, and twins Knox and Vivienne, 9.
According to the Enquirer’s report, the two-year legal battle has caused their all six to play favourites.
‘Maddox wants to live with his father!’ a source dished, adding, ‘Pax will go wherever Maddox goes – they’re close.’
The insider dishes, ‘They want to hang with their dad. They think he’s real cool.’
‘The younger ones, Viv and Knox, want to live with Ange and are that age where they still need their mum,’ added the source.
‘Zahara is staying put with Ange, too – but Shiloh wants to live with her father. She’s always sneaking in calls to him on what’s going on.’
The source finishes, ‘Angie sees it all slipping away from her, and is now so desperate she may resort to any dirty trick she can think of.’
Yesterday, New Idea reported that Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie had reach a new temporary custody agreement over their six children, nearly two years after their shock split.
According to the leaked court documents, the Superior Court of Los Angeles County determined that ‘not having a relationship with their father would be harmful,’ to Maddox, 16, Pax, 14, Zahara, 13, Shiloh, 12, and twins Knox and Vivienne, 9.
The court determined that the children ‘are safe with their father’ and that it is ‘critical that each of them have a healthy and strong relationship’ with both of their parents.
However, Maddox is essentially free to go with either parent because of his age.
The documents state that Pitt, 54, will have physical custody of the minor children (all except Maddox) for four hours a day from June 8 to 17 in London, where Jolie, 43, will be filming Maleficent 2.
Pitt must spend time with each child at least twice during the 10 day period with a psychologists present. Jolie will not be present during her estranged husband’s custodial time.
The documents add that Pitt will have custody of the kids from July 21 to 29. He is reportedly responsible for returning them back to Jolie in London on July 29, in addition to paying for their transportation. He will have custody again from August 11 until the estranged couple’s next court hearing on August 13.
A source told the Us Weekly, ‘This [divorce] has been a longstanding back-and-forth, and hopefully now there will be greater collaboration for the benefit of the kids. The kids have always been a priority for both parents and hopefully everyone will comply with the court order going forward. Brad will be wherever he needs to be for the kids.’
Since the documents leaked, Angelina’s rep has blasted the reports that ensued.
‘This misleading leak is not in the best interests of the children. From the start, Angelina has been focused only on their health and needs, which is why it was so important that this last court hearing be conducted privately,’ a spokesperson for the 42-year-old told said in a statement.
‘It’s deplorable that someone, for their own selfish reasons, leaked selective portions of the confidential and sealed court record to create an inaccurate and unfair picture of what is really happening,’ Angelina’s rep concluded.
