Jackie from 7 Year Switch has shared this amazing image from the water birth of her son, Chaddy.
‘This is about a minute after little Chaddy was born,’ she wrote on Instagram, sharing the happy moment with her social media followers.
‘I wanted to have a really natural birth with no intervention and the Gold Coast Uni Hospital were really supportive of this. I was also lucky enough to have a water-birth which was the most amazing experience!! The bath was great at helping relieve the pain I’d been suffering from Symphysis Pubis Dysfunction.’
Jackie says she’s thrilled by the way things turned out and is happy she gave birth on her own terms.
‘It really took a lot of determination to have the birth I wanted, there were definitely moments where I doubted myself and could have been easily influenced by others. I was also petrified that I might have to have a Caesarian. I have a major phobia of surgery, hospitals, blood tests, drips etc. I’d never actually been to hospital until giving birth.
‘I hadn’t expected it to be so primal, but I just let go and went with it. I found labour to be very empowering and a little bit ‘I am woman – hear me roar!’, it felt like this is what our bodies are made to do!
‘This might sound crazy but I really can’t wait to do it again.’
