The actress has approached key Hollywood bosses with a secret deal to film a blockbuster about Schapelle’s explosive case in 2018, convinced the movie will land her another coveted Oscar.
It’s believed the 50-year-old star has always been fascinated with Schapelle, and is hoping that film execs will bring the Bali prisoner’s story to the big screen.
‘Nicole sees this as Bangkok Hilton 2.0,’ says a source close to the A-lister. ‘That was the TV miniseries that made Nicole a star all those years ago, and she can’t help but see the parallels in Schapelle’s case and her character’s story in Bangkok Hilton – so she’s always been fascinated.
‘Bangkok Hilton was based on a true story, so Nicole knows only too well that women like Schapelle can be set up with drugs. She thinks there are a lot of unanswered questions in Schapelle’s case and believes a movie like this will help expose them.
‘She’s approached some of the key bosses in Hollywood already – they don’t really know about Schapelle’s case, however Nicole has been winning them over.
‘Nicole’s confident a film like this will get rave reviews. She already has a screenwriter and director in mind – if this is done properly, Nicole doesn’t see why she and Schapelle won’t wind up on the Oscars red carpet in a few years’ time.’
