Producers of the hit series have reportedly approached the Aussie Oscar-winner to take on the role of Samantha Jones for the latest hugely anticipated instalment of the film franchise.
It's believed they're pulling out all of the stops to have her sign on for the gig - including a reported $20 million salary - as they see Nicole, 50, as being the A-list power they need to take the film to the next level.
'The producers and Sarah Jessica Parker want Nicole Kidman, it's as simple as that,' says a casting source. 'They're looking for a huge name to fill Kim Cattrall's shoes - they're still so angry about her walking away from the move, and getting someone as famous as Nicole to step into the role would be sweet revenge for the Sex And The City bosses.'
The new reports about Nicole joining the cast comes days after Kim, 61, revealed they should give the part to an African-American or Hispanic actress.
'It's a great part. I played it past the finish line and then some, and I loved it,' she told Piers Morgan. 'Another actress should play it - maybe they could make it an African American Samantha Jones or a Hispanic Samantha Jones.'
The Sex And The City bosses are said to be excited about Nicole's star power, but also reveal that she fits the bill for Samantha Jones' extroverted and flirtatious character.
'The fact that Nicole is in the right age demographic and has had lots of sexy roles in the past is a huge positive for the producers,' a production insider says. 'She's done some very explicit work over the years - such as Eyes Wide Shut - and also isn't afraid of controversial sex scenes, as in Big Little Lies.'
Nicole, meanwhile, is said to be 'very interested' in the role, and is talking it over with her management.
