Absolutely tragic

A young girl has been left in the care of her 20-year-old sister after their parents were among those who perished in the Manchester terror attack.

Polish couple Marcin and Angelika Klis were waiting to collect their daughters Patrycia, 12, and Alex from the Ariana Grande concert earlier this week when they were caught in the explosion that killed 22 and injured 119.

“The parents came after the concert to collect their daughters and unfortunately we have information that they are dead,” Polish Foreign Minister Witold Waszczykowski revealed in a statement on Wednesday.

“The children are safe.”

The couple had taken to social media to share a final selfie together just minutes before the blast.

The snap shows Marcin, 42, and Angelika, 39 smiling as they posed in the city centre prior to their arrival at Manchester Arena.

Speaking outside the Klis family home in North Yorkshire, a friend told Daily Mail of their heartbreak.

“It’s just so sad – these girls are now orphans.”

“It is now down to Alex to look after her sister, you never expect it to happen on your own doorstep.”

“They are just crying and crying, we’re all sad – we’ve almost run out of tears now.”

The friend continued: “The family were just a loving and perfect family – they would do anything for you.”

Immediately after the attack, Alex shared a desperate appeal on Facebook trying to locate the couple’s whereabouts.

“Anyone who is in any safe place or hospital in Manchester, if anyone comes across my parents please please let me know as they’ve been missing ever since the attack,” she wrote.
