American high school teacher Sarah Fowlkes couldn’t wipe the smile off her face as she posed for a mugshot just hours after she was arrested.
The 27-year-old biology was arrested on suspicion of having a sexual relationship with one of her students just hours after enjoying a birthday meal with her husband.
Fowlkes was suspended from her job at Lockhart High School in Texas for her inappropriate relationship with the 17-year-old pupil.
According to The Houston Chronicle, a school administrator alerted police of their relationship.
Police says they found evidence of an improper relationship, stating: “Their contact was of a sexual nature.”
The school’s superintendent Susan Bohn said in a statement: ‘Lockhart parents entrust their children to us every day, and it is something we do not take lightly.
‘Student safety is the district’s most important priority. As soon as we learned of the report, we acted swiftly to involve law enforcement and CPS to conduct a thorough investigation. The district does not and will not tolerate any improper communication or contact between a teacher and child.’
