A woman who allegedly launched an horrific axe attack on two strangers in a Sydney 7-Eleven did so after a failed Tinder date, according to court testimony.
Accused axe attacker Evie Amati, 24, had bought the axe days in advance of the attack, and had allegedly practiced using it on a couch.
The night of the attack, she ‘motivated herself by playing music’, Magistrate Karen Robinson told Central Local Court. Minutes before the attack, she allegedly wrote on Facebook, ‘Humans are only able to destroy to hate so that is what I will do.’
The court was told the woman had been on a failed Tinder date before the rampage, and had also consumed cannabis and alcohol.
The Tinder date ended with Amati telling the woman that ‘there was no positive chemistry’ between them.
The court was told that Amati had worried the woman found her unattractive, did not make eye contact and that she feared her date did not know she was transgender. It was alleged the experience ‘fuelled a homicidal ideation she had harboured for some considerable time.’
The court was also told that the accused does not appear to suffer from a mental illness.
