Showing a great white shark’s frenzied attack on a large fish of popular Bondi Beach, the video once again reveals just how close the massive predators are known to come to one of the country’s most popular swimming spots.
Captured off the coast by a drone camera, the video shows the shark was hunting metres from at least one oblivious swimmer.
Drone photographer Jason Iggleden told Nine the creature launched itself from below to finish off the fish.
‘He came up from the bottom, and just launched, as you can see in the footage,” Iggleden explained to 9 News. ‘He just hit what we think is a tuna.’
Iggleden notified lifeguards when the shark came as close as 20 metres to someone enjoying a dip.
‘Potentially, I think on a couple of occasions over the past few years, … we’ve saved a couple of lives,’ he says of his aerial surveillance work.
