“My heartfelt condolences go out to the family and friends of Jerome Barson and I continue to keep them in my thoughts and prayers.”

According to TMZ, Williams was driving her 2010 Toyota Sequoia SUV when witnesses say she ran a red light into the path of a sedan driven by Barson’s wife, Linda.

But the sportswoman’s lawyer was quick to dispute these claims, explaining that the crash was simply an “unfortunate accident” and that William’s had entered the intersection on a green light.

The 37-year-old has not been ticketed or charged and was not injured in the collision, although she is reportedly facing a wrongful-death lawsuit from the family of the victim.
