A year prior it was Bella Taylor Smith who won as part of Guy Sebastian’s team, with Guy’s younger brother Chris taking home the win for Team Kelly [Rowland] in 2020.

Prior to the finalists being revealed, Guy Sebastian was the coach who fans thought would lead their singer to stardom with odds of $1.50.

He was followed by newcomer judge Jason Derulo and Aussie icon Jessica Mauboy who both had odds listed at $4.33 to win.

Despite leading Lachie Gill to victory in 2022, coach Rita Ora was at the back of the pack with odds listed at $8.50.

According to Guy, he and Jess refused to “have another year where an international wins.”

“We need to bring the crown back to home turf,” he said in a recent episode. “It’s like the Ashes – doesn’t belong in England, belongs right here.”
