You might not be familiar with the initialism ADC, but chances are you’ve experienced what it stands for. ‘After-death Contact’ (ADC) is a term coined by US researchers Bill and Judy Guggenheim, authors of the bestselling 1996 book, Hello From Heaven!, to describe the multiple ways late loved ones reach out to us – from dreams to visions, music and symbolism, plus everything in between.

But what I find even more fascinating than how the spirits make themselves known to us is why they do. According to the research I’ve done and the people I’ve interviewed, they’re often driven to help us navigate a specific situation in our lives, and they can be persistent.
For a moment, pause and think what this means – not only are the people we’ve loved and lost up to date with what’s going on in our lives, but they still care and want to help. None of which sounds like being dead, does it? I know, this train of thought can fry the sockets!
For instance, I once spoke with a woman whose late father showed up night after night in dreams, looking worried and gesturing to his throat. After some time, she got the hint and went to a doctor, who diagnosed a pre-cancerous tumour in her thyroid.
For my guest on this week’s episode of The Ghost Files podcast, the healing he needed wasn’t physical, but emotional, and his late mum knew it. In life, their relationship was fractured, but it took only one ADC from her in a lifelike dream to put a stop to Paul’s descent into depression and alcoholism.
“I was tearing myself apart, self-destructing big time,” Paul told me. “The dream changed my life.” For more on how Paul’s mum healed a lifetime of pain between them with her after-death contact, tune into The Ghost Files. See the podcast player at the bottom of this page!
