Dozens of patrons have endured a terrifying afternoon at Movie World on the Gold Coast today, as a high profile roller coaster apparently malfunctioned, leaving riders stuck high up amid searing temperatures.
Emergency services were called to help evacuate people trapped on the Arkham Asylum ride, with some reported to trapped there for up to two hours as temperatures soared into the thirties. All have now been safely retrieved.
A mechanical chain issue is being blamed for the incident, which follows a horrific ride malfunction at Dreamworld that ended in the deaths of four people.
