Video footage shows the crocodile swimming between Cameron Timms and his family at El Questro’s Moonshine Gorge in the Kimberly’s, moments before he was attacked.

He told the Kimberley Echo: ‘I had the GoPro on to see if anything cool was happening underwater and it captured the croc swimming around.’

Cameron’s father, Mark Timms told the ABC his son suffered puncture wounds to his elbow and stomach, but said they weren’t ‘particularly serious’.

He added: ‘Cameron felt it bump him and then, I don’t know, not very long after his elbow hurt a little bit, and had a look and it was bleeding and so he hopped out and his stomach was bleeding a little bit and his elbow had quite a lot of blood coming out of it.’

It wasn’t until later, when the family watched the footage that they realised the 1.5-metre freshwater crocodile had been swimming with the family prior to the attack.

‘It swam right through the middle of us and we never saw a thing,’ Mark told The Western Australian. ‘It brushed past myself and my wife and we both thought someone had accidentally kicked us.’
