The outcome of Sophie Monk’s highly anticipated season of The Bachelorette has been widely regarded as television’s worst-kept secret.
Before he even appeared on screens, entrepreneur Stu Laundy was touted as the frontrunner set to win the 37-year-old star’s heart in an emotional season finale of the Channel 10 show.
However, in news set to shock audiences to the core, a source has revealed to New Idea that it appears their love affair may already be over.
According to our well-placed insider, elite Sydney social circles are buzzing with speculation the former pop star has called time on her short-lived romance with the $500 million pub heir and that’s the real reason she fled to Thailand last week.
Unable to cope with his party lifestyle and harem of female admirers, Sophie wanted some time away to think about their future, but has since been left devastated by news that Stu has already moved on.
‘He has been spotted getting cosy with a recently separated Sydney socialite,’ says the source. ‘So there is not really any point in trying to work things out now.’
It was after filming that Sophie began to have doubts about the handsome playboy, who has dated a string of high-profile women.
Worried about his playboy reputation, the gorgeous blonde wondered in their new relationship would survive once they went back to reality.
Fleeing to Thailand to mend her broken heart, amid the media storm surrounding the reality dating show, Sophie has confessed that she is ‘really embarrassed.’ that she is single again and blames herself.
But with the scheduled media interviews and grueling publicity trail on the horizon, Sophie and Stu are both aware they have contractual obligations to fulfill and are now believed to be working with the shows executives to devise a plan.
