The four children who barely survived a car crash on April 7 that killed their parents and 2-month-old sister are using each other to begin to heal, gaining strength from each other in the hospital, according to their great aunt Teresa Burrell.
Jim Clemens, 31, and Karisa Clemens, 29, and their two-month-old daughter Juliana Clemens all passed away on April 7 when their family’s car collided with an SUV, KTKS reported.
Now, Angela, 8, Zachary, 5, Wyatt, 4, and Nicholas, 2, are beginning to heal together after surviving the horrific crash.
‘We saw the strength and courage that these siblings give to one another,’ their aunt Teresa wrote to Facebook. ‘Zachery has been really struggling and is having a hard time eating and taking his medicines. Besides the physical pain he experiences, he has been depressed.
‘For the first time all three children were able to spend time together. Their Grandma (they call her Ninny) and Aunt Sherri had a little ice cream party and have all the children be together in Zachery’s room. Because of his broken back Zach is in his bed most of the time.
‘They sang silly songs and the boys were able to eat ice cream. For almost an hour they just spent time together. It was a great time of healing and Zach was much improved by getting strength and support from his brother and sister. It was a magical healing moment. I think we all feel strengthened when we feel of others support and love.
‘Thank you all for strengthening me and our family.’
Since news broke of the tragic story, a Facebook fundraising page has been set up to help pay for the funeral arrangements. The page has raised over $160,000.
The San Angelo Standard-Times reported the five children were in the car with their parents coming back from a family outing at the time of the crash.
