The renowned market in Strasbourg, France, came under attack when the gunman – who is known to police – attacked shoppers taking in the Christmas tradition.
A shop worker told France’s BFM TV: “There were gun shots and people running everywhere. It lasted about 10 minutes.”
The gunman is currently still at large. Armed officers are now conducting an extensive search for the man.
Although the motive for the attack has not been confirmed, the market has been the subject of a number of foiled terrorist plots over the past several years.
