Speaking with News.com.au, fellow Yorke Peninsula residents say the 22-year-old “disappeared basically overnight” after her gym business collapsed last September, leaving a massive debt in her wake.

“It was a shock to me, plus the community,” the Yorketown florist Lyn Gates told the publication.

“All of a sudden, she just took off and not paid – nicked – the rent and the equipment just disappeared.”

Steph Bajcarz, a former school friend of Sainsbury’s also agreed that the Adelaide woman had been struggling with her finances in recent times.

“She didn’t pay her rent for a really long time and it could be in the thousands,” she told 7News.

“She just kind of shut it [the business] down and she said she was changing careers.”

The shocking claims follow ominous social media posts surfacing, which reveal the aspiring actor and model predicted a monumental life event occurring just weeks before embarking on her doomed trip.

In another post that has since been deleted, she wrote: “Moving interstate driving me cray cray! #save me! Not long before the big move now, super excited and can’t wait to leave so much luggage behind.”

Sainsbury was on the last leg of a world trip when she was allegedly found with 5.8 kilograms of cocaine hidden in headphone packages in her suitcase at Bogota airport.

Colombian police have revealed a tip off about the suspicious purchase of her plane ticket led to her arrest.
