She’s only just snatched back her freedom, but Schapelle Corbby could be heading for locked-up living once again!
The convicted drug smuggler – who last month was released back to Australia after serving 12 years in Bali – is said to be in talks to appear on long-running UK reality show Celebrity Big Brother.
According to The Daily Telegraph, sources close to the 39-year-old say she has already knocked out a deal with Big Brother distributor Endemol Shine International and has applied for a networks-sponsored working visa.
In a very interesting turn of events, the publication states that a detailed deal with the production company helped fund Corby’s hugely expensive and much publicised return to Australia, including her heavy security detail.
A source even claims the production company encouraged her to start an Instagram account to garner publicity.
When asked by the Telegraph if the rumours were true, Endemol Shine’s London communications boss Rae Langford stated only: ‘We don’t comment on speculation.’
However sources whisper that the TV company is set to launch Schapelle into the celebrity stratosphere, marketing her as ‘Australia’s most famous drug smuggler’ when the show airs live in July.
‘One thing people don’t know about Schapelle is she has a very witty and sharp sense of humour and the producers think British viewers will really take to her,’ a source revealed.
‘Australians have a long tradition of finding a receptive market in the UK and there’s hope she could make a real name for herself.’
Although the convicted drug smuggler has been freed to travel under Australia’s immigration laws, it is unclear whether or not she will meet the strict UK international entry requirements.
