The sister of controversial businessman Salim Mehajer has revealed details about her troubled marriage to estranged husband Mouhammed ‘Moudi’ Tajjour, a former bikie.
Sanaa Mehajer, 22, has detailed the troublesome relationship to Daily Mail, revealing the marriage ended in abuse, monstrous name-calling and public threats.
‘We knew of each other prior to my sister’s wedding, but it was our official meeting,’ she told the publication. ‘We just kicked off from there, we were just the very best of friends I guess. It was like I was on cloud nine and then we decided to get married.’
Tajjour, Sanaa’s groom, was the former vice-president of the Nomads bikie gang, and was once jailed for manslaughter.
Sanaa claims the two never spoke of his criminal background.
‘I know what happened because of what is available to read, but I don’t know the ins and outs. His past was his past,’ she claimed. ‘I saw beyond it and just didn’t judge him.’
It was when the couple travelled to Thailand for their honeymoon, the relationship began to turn toxic.
‘Basically there was a change in his personality, a change in behaviour and that didn’t coincide with what I expected,’ she told Daily Mail.
‘It started off with name calling, so things like s***. Fights were followed by apologies, followed by aggression again. It was just up and down like a yoyo and it started to get emotionally draining, as you can imagine.’
Sanaa reportedly told police he started treating hotel staff and herself with a ‘lack of respect’, regularly swearing and abusing them.
She decided to end the relationship and return home to Australia solo.
‘It made me question my self-worth,’ she tells the publication. I was raised in a family where my parents taught me to love myself…and I was like: ‘Why was I feeling so great about myself and I got married and suddenly I’m feeling like a piece of s**t?”
When back in Sydney, Tajjour began apologising and owned up to his actions, Sanaa says. The two decided to give their relationship a second chance.
But within weeks the pair fell out again and Ms Mehajer says they began arguing while in Tajjour’s car.
‘We were driving and we were fighting about something so irrelevant. I asked him to let me out of the car and he started calling me a ‘s***’, ‘rat’, and ‘mutt’,’ she said.
‘I said: ‘I’m going to get out when it stops’. He threatened me and said: ‘If you get out, I’m going to pull you back in by your hair’.’
Sanaa eventually took out an AVO, claiming Tajjour ‘shouldn’t be allowed to do what he wants and dictate my life.’
