The mother of the two girls who drowned together in their Logan backyard pool has spoken out.
Renise Young’s daughters Patricia, 3, and Taya, 4, were found in the pool by their older sibling on Tuesday afternoon.
‘We know [they are] at rest, they’re at peace, they’re not going to go through any pain, they’re just sleeping,’ Young told 9 News.
Police were called to the home around 1.30 p.m on Tuesday after the girls were pulled from the pool.
‘I was just screaming – I didn’t know what to do,’ Young said.
‘To see your children helpless at the bottom of the pool, it’s just terrible.’
The backyard pool was completely fenced, however Young believes the girls used chairs to climb over the fence.
Inspector Glen Allen said, ‘Obviously it’s an absolute tragedy that the two of them are now gone.’
