Speaking out about her determined vow to beat her new battle with cancer, Olivia Newton-John has been open about how medicinal marijuana has helped her through her darkest days.
Now, the Grease star has shared details of her campaign to have the controversial treatment legalised – revealing in a new interview how she’s taken her cause to the Australian government to win her battle.
‘I had the wonderful opportunity of going to Canberra…to ask for funding for my cancer wellness centre and to talk about medical cannabis I’ve been using,’ she told The Arizona Republic newspaper. ‘It’s a very maligned plant that has many healing properties, and people need to rethink how they think about it.’
She recently revealed how the drug had been crucial in easing her debilitating pain, and her desire to see it available to all cancer sufferers.
‘I will do what I can to encourage it,’ she told The Sunday Telegraph. ‘It’s an important part of treatment, and it should be available. I use it for the pain and it’s also a medical thing to do – the research shows it’s really helpful.’
