Twenty years on from her death and the world is still baffled by the murder of child beauty pageant queen, JonBenet Ramsey.
And now, it can be revealed that a chilling warning came just three days before the murder – in which the six-year-olds body was found in the basement of her parents’ home on Boxing Day 1996.
This new evidence could be vital to the investigation, claim top crime-writing duo Lisa Wilson and Nick Van der Leek.
On the evening of December 23, police in Boulder, Colorado received a silent call from the Ramsey’s, but when they rang back, no one picked up.
Tracing the address of the mystery call, concerned officers drove to the location, only to find a Christmas party in full swing at the Ramsey’s 15-room mansion.
Police were greeted by family friend, Susan Stine, who refused them entry into the house, blaming the emergency call on a party-goer dialling the wrong number while trying to order medication for an elderly parent.
Speaking to news.com.au, the authors of The Craven Silence trilogy believe this call may be a vital clue in the murder mystery.
‘We believe something happened at the party, something serious,’ they say.
‘Secrets kept on December 23 were repeated under far more serious circumstances three days later. This time the Ramseys knew they could rely on their friends to keep their secrets.
‘Their friends assumed the Ramseys were innocent, and if they felt otherwise later, they were ostracised, sued or accused’.
‘What’s frightening about the case is the way a very wealthy family got everybody to dance, Mr Van der Leek adds.
Despite being held under suspicion over the years, John and Patsy Ramsey, along with their son, Burke always maintained their innocence.
