Theresa Bartram from the UK had surgery to improve her sex life but was left mortified when her vagina mutilated her partner’s penis.
After going for seven years without sex, Bartram decided to undergo surgery to help with stress incontinence, which ruined her confidence in the bedroom.
The 50-year-old underwent a procedure which involved lifting her prolapsed bladder with the use of a plastic mesh sling called a transvaginal tape.
The operation was a success and Bartram and her partner were able to carry on with a normal sex life – until two years later in 2009 when she almost severed his penis off.
“It was like it had grown teeth,” she said to The Sun. “His willy was bright red and spouting blood. There was a big red stain spreading between us on the sheets.
“After that, he was scared of my lady garden and approached it as if it was a Venus flytrap and he was a bluebottle (fly).”
Bartram believes the mesh caused the injury despite her doctor assuring her it was fine.
She and her partner split up six months later after they became too afraid to try intercourse again.
In 2015, Bartram had the mesh removed because it eroded through her vaginal wall, causing her to grow an abscess which became infected.
“I was told this simple procedure would cure my incontinence and give me more confidence on the bedroom, but it has ruined my life,” she says.
