The new season of MKR turns up the heat with super-sized instant restaurants and a new elimination process!
Josh & Nic: NSW, Italiano brothers
These lovable lads from Sydney ooze confidence. Nic, 33, says: ‘Between running out family restaurant and cooking for our family, we’re used to a big mob.’
The former pro-football players hope to make their mama proud with their hearty Italian food.
Stuss & Steve: Brisbane, best buddies
Stuss and Steve are not just Brisbane buddies, but brothers-in-law!
‘I met Stuss over 20 years ago when he started going out with my sister, and we became very good mates,’ Steve, 52, says. Corner shop owner Stuss, 56, calls Steve a ‘fair dinkum Indiana Jones.’
‘I’m a state archeologist for Queensland,’ Steve says.
Ash & Matty: Sunny Coast, surfies
This laid-back Sunshine Coast couple have only been dating for 18 months…and only one of them can cook! Registered nurse Ash, 25, says her happy place is in the kitchen.
‘I absolutely love cooking, especially after a hard shift. It’s may passion,’ she says.
But it’s a different story for 26-year-old Matty. ‘I can’t cook,’ he admits. ‘Without Ash, I’m stuffed.’
Kim & Suong: Melbourne, mums
Friends since high school, Kim and Suong, both 38, plan to show Australia what real Vietnamese food is.
‘We’re both Vietnamese and we’re both refugees,’ Suong reveals. ‘I came here when I was five on a homemade boat.’
Proud of their culture and their food, they have seven children between them.
Jess & Emma: Sydney, sisters
These Sydney siblings are not backward in coming forward.
‘We’re not to be underestimated,’ Jess, 31, states. ‘We want to win MKR.’
Emma, who says she’s ’30ish’, jokes: ‘We could win…when we score everyone zero.’
Stella & Jazzey: Western Australia, waitresses
These sassy millennials will have you cracking up with their hilarious lingo, such as ‘moshey’ (emotional), ‘cocky’ (cocktail), and ‘onny’ (honest). Perth waitresses Stella and Jazzey, both 21, may love a bit of fun but they are serious about competing.
Alex & Emma: Gold Coast, couple
Gold Coast lovebirds Alex, 35, and Emily, 27, are planning to raise the bar in MKR! Both in the hospitality industry, the couple met at a Sydney rum bar and hope to open a venue together.
‘Emily is my little pocket rocket,’ Alex gushes. ‘She’s gorgeous as hell. We have so much love between us!’
Roula & Rachael: Melbourne, mates
These Melbourne mates are ready to serve a hit of hip-hop attitude.
‘We are on fire, and together you can’t stop us,’ says Rachael, 21, who met Roula 18 months ago when they both worked at the same real estate agency.
‘We became really good work friends…we both love hip-hop.’
Roula, 34, adds: ‘Hip-hop channels my inner gangster. I’m loud, I’m vocal.’
