The young woman who was found murdered in the middle of a popular Melbourne soccer field has been named as popular comedian, Eurydice Dixon.
Dixon, 22, was reportedly on her way home from a comedy gig at the Highlander Bar in Melbourne’s CBD.
According to reports, Dixon left the venue shortly after 10.30pm. Police are alleging, she was then attacked by a man she did not know between 11pm and 2am.
Her body was found by a passer-by at around 2:40am.
Ms Dixon is being remembered for her ‘kind, gentle and quiet manner’, as well as her ability to ‘command the attention of an entire room’ when she performed.
Just months prior to her death, Ms Dixon had been selling out shows a the Highlander bar.
James Forman, a staff member at the popular spot, said: ‘It was a packed house every night. She might have just been starting out as comedian but the audience did not reflect that. Her shows were always packed to the rafters.’
‘She was just wonderful,’ he added.

A 19-year-old Broadmeadows man has been charged with one count of rape and one count of murder after handing himself into police on Wednesday night.
He is due to face Melbourne Magistrates Court on Thursday.
The teenager went to Broadmeadows police station not long after CCTV footage was taken released from a nearby area.
The footage was taken in the CBD, but police have not revealed how they tracked it down.
