TV presenter Bill Collins has passed away at age 84. Known as ‘Mr Movies,’ Bill has spent over 55 years introducing movies to Australia on prime time TV.

Bill’s wife Joan Collins stated:
“Our hearts are broken by the loss of our dear Bill – he will never be forgotten. How fortunate we were to have him in our lives. On behalf of Bill’s family and myself, I would like to thank the public for the great support given to Bill over the years.”
“Bill’s love of film was encouraged by you, his audience, and his love of sharing his passion, which increased over the five decades that he presented on every Australian television.
“Bill was always thrilled when he realised the joy and happiness he gave to his viewers. He never took them for granted, always wanting to please.”
“Darling Bill you will be loved and missed always.”
Collins’ first role was at ABC’s Roundabout, as a presenter and producer of film appreciation segments.
Bill also worked as a presenter at Nine, Seven and Ten before joining Foxtel during its launch in 1995.
A Logies Hall of Fame recipient, Bill Collins was the host of the Golden Years of Hollywood up until October 2018.
“To all my fans, I want to say thank you for your support of the Golden Years of Hollywood,” Bill said at the time. “Thank you so much, you’ve brought me so much pleasure. We’ve got some wonderful movies available On Demand from the Golden Years of Hollywood. I hope you continue to support and enjoy these films.”
