Amid deepening mystery over the condition of Formula One legend Michael Schumacher, one of the stricken star’s close friends has spoken up.
Racing champ Sebastian Vettel alluded to Michael’s condition at the Race of Champions event, revealing his thoughts on the star – who was seriously injured in a skiing accident back in 2013.
‘We started this journey together, he was helping me out most the time in the beginning, and I was able to learn a lot from him,’ says Sebastian, who went on to add it was very sad that Michael is apparently still too ill to attend.
‘We would have loved to have him here, and our thoughts are with him. We wish him still all the best, even though it has been a couple of years.
‘We all miss him. Not just me for Team Germany, but all the drivers.
‘He is always good company. Very difficult to beat on track, very difficult to beat off track.
‘But luckily I was smart enough to pay attention when he was teaching lessons.’
According to German press reports, Michael suffered extensive injuries, with little hope he will ever fully recover his health and mobility.
