Marc Anthony’s mother, Guillermina Quiñones de Muñiz, passed away on Thursday afternoon.
The popular Latin singer took to Twitter to share the news, penning a heartbreaking tribute to his “hero.”
“Today at 12:10pm my family’s hero, our rock, our protector, inspiration and now ANGEL passed away,” the 48-year-old wrote.
“She left in peace, accompanied by all your prayers and well wishes for which we thank you all.”
“Mami, I’m going to miss you so much!”
The sad announcement comes just days after the Grammy-award winner asked fans to “please pray for my mom” when she was hospitalised in Puerto Rico over the weekend.
He concluded the tweet writing: “I love you Mommy.”
This was the first time the notoriously private star had spoken publicly about his mother’s health struggles.
Guillermina’s cause of death is yet to be disclosed.
