After more than 30 years of the Logies being held in Melbourne, it is all coming to an end!
The Victorian government announced on Sunday that they will no longer play host to the glitzy event. Their reasoning was that it’s ‘time to pass on the baton.’
The decision did not come without celebrity backlash, Karl Stefanovic even threatening to boycott the entire show altogether.
Stefanovic told co-host Lisa Wilkinson during The Today Show on Monday: ‘I’m telling you right now – if the Logies move from Melbourne I’m boycotting them. I will not be going to the Logies if they’re outside of Melbourne.’
Stefanovic went on to blame the Victorian Premier, saying ‘This is a joke of giant proportions – Kevin Andrews has lost the plot completely.’
‘For $1 million the advertising Victoria gets is second to none. You may as well have the Ekka in Perth. You may as well have the Hamilton Island race week on Fitzroy Island’ he added.
According to News Corp, it is rumoured the show will now be held in Queensland from 2018.
The Logies long history with Melbourne draws back to its time at the Hilton and Wentworth Regents hotel before finding its home at Crown Casino in 1997.
