There are fresh fears for Lisa Marie Presley amid claims that she’s ‘devastated’ and ‘not coping’ over the upcoming anniversary of her legendary father’s death.
The 49-year-old appeared strung out in LA recently, chain-smoking as she struggled to talk to a friend.
Sources tell New Idea that the 40-year anniversary of Elvis’ death on August 16 has hit Lisa Marie hard, and friends are worried that she’s spiralling down the same path of destruction and addiction that claimed her father’s life.
‘Lisa Marie is taking the upcoming anniversary of her dad’s death really badly and is not coping at all,’ reveals a close friend. ‘She’s really devastated and upset about it and feeling more alone than ever.
‘She knows that she’s battled many of the same demons that her father did before he died at age 42. They’ve both had drug problems, ballooning weight and relationship turmoil.
‘The 40-year anniversary is making Lisa Marie think she’s on the same destructive path that ended her father’s life. And instead of trying to turn her life around, she’s just sinking more and more into a black hole.
‘We’re just hoping she can pull herself out and live a happier, healthier life – move on from the looming anniversary of her dad’s death and end the downward spiral.’
The new fears for Lisa Marie ‒ whose father died from a massive drug-induced heart attack in 1977 ‒ come after a year from hell for the mum-of-four.
It was recently revealed by The Sun that she’s lost her inherited fortune, estimated at $300 million, and temporary custody of her twin eight-year-old daughters. The girls now live with her estranged mother, a fact that has been confirmed by Priscilla Presley on social media.
She is also currently locked in a bitter divorce battle with former husband Michael Lockwood, who she has accused of possessing child pornography and inappropriate videos of their own daughters.
