Julie Bishop has copped criticism online after appearing in parliament for Tuesday’s budget announcement wearing a $1,299 sparkling dark blue sequin midi dress designed by Rachel Gilbert, dazzling earrings and painted pink nails.
The over the top ensemble ensured that all eyes were on her, as the budget marks one of the last times the former foreign minister will appear in federal parliament.
Since wearing her glitzy dress to parliament, trolls took to Twitter to condemn Bishop’s expensive choice of attire on a day when her government rolled out a budget that ignored much-needed funds for welfare recipients.
While many were horrified with her dress, there were those that equally defended Bishop.
The ‘Orla Dress’, designed by the famed Australian designer, can be bought from retailers such as David Jones and The Iconic.
