The heartbroken family of seven-year-old Sydney boy, Julian Cadman, have confirmed that he was among the 13 people murdered when a van ploughed through a crowd in the bustling Barcelona district of Las Ramblas last week.
‘Julian was a much loved and adored member of our family. As he was enjoying the sights of Barcelona with his mother, Julian was sadly taken from us,’ begins the statement, released by the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade.
Julian’s father, Andrew Cadman, immediately flew to Barcelona upon learning that his wife and Julian’s mother, Jom, was seriously injured in hospital and that their son was missing.
He landed in Barcelona just hours after local police confirmed that Julian had been located, and the worst had been confirmed.
‘Neither we were searching nor we have found any lost child in the Barcelona attack. All the victims and injured have been located.’
The family have stated that they will be making no further statements, and request privacy while they grieve the loss of their son.
‘He was so energetic, funny and cheeky, always bringing a smile to our faces. We are so blessed to have had him in our lives and will remember his smiles and hold his memory dear to our hearts.’
