Judge Judy has spoken out about her painful divorce in a candid new interview.
The TV legal eagle, 74 – real name Judy Sheindlin – split with 83-year-old husband Jerry in 1990, 13 years after they first exchanged vows.
But the pair reunited a year later, then renewed their vows and have been together ever since.
“I missed Jerry,” Judy is quoted as saying today by US Closer magazine. “I like to have someone to fuss over. I like to be mated. It’s natural for me.”
Judy went on, “I consider myself a pretty savvy woman, but I’ve been married three times, twice to the same guy.
“I learned the hard way that sometimes what you think makes you happy won’t. You have to step back from your emotions and decide what matters most. I like to make decisions!”
Elaborating on their special bond, she added, “We’ve been married 40 years and he has never seen me without my hair combed or lipstick on.
“He knows he has to keep a reasonable physique or he’s out the door!”
