Last week the publication revealed that, according to new evidence from his wife, Glenn Meyer – who was interviewed by police at the time of the six year old beauty queen’s murder – could have been the killer.

However, sources state that the police were so obsessed with framing JonBenet’s parents, John and Patsy Ramsey that they overlooked vital clues that could have led to Glenn’s arrest.

And now, investigators want to exhume Meyer, who died in 2005, in a last ditch attempt to solve the crime.

“I think there could be benefits, forensically, to exhuming him,” states the source.

Last week, Glenn’s wife, Charotte Meyer said her husband was “obsessed” with Jonbenet and said she was “lucky it wasn’t me or one of my children [that he killed]”.

JonBenet’s body was found in the basement on Boxing Day, 1996 by her father John, she had been bludgeoned and strangled.

Her body was hidden beneath a white blanket and she had a nylon cord around her neck. Her wrists had been bound above her head and her mouth was covered by duct tape
