A man who shot his girlfriend twice in the head before shoving her body off of a 12 meter high cliff posted chilling photos of her on a hike shortly before her death.
Loren Bunner had only recently been dumped by his 18-year-old girlfriend, Jolee Callan, when he invited her to go hiking the Pinhoti Trail, Alabama, with him.
He shared several photos of Jolee riding in his car, and looking out from the trail during the hike. It would be the last time anyone would see her alive.
Hauntingly, she had texted a friend before the hike saying: ‘If something happens to me, you’ll know who I was with.’
Jolee was shot twice, once in the back of the head and then again between the eyes, before being pushed backpack and all over a sheer 12 metre ledge, says The Sun.
Bunner then called the police, and told them: ‘I want to turn myself in for the murder of my ex-girlfriend that happened just a little while ago on Cheaha Mountain.’
Police found a shotgun on Bunner, as well as blood on his car’s steering wheel, and blood at the scene of the shooting.
Gunner claimed that the death was part of a failed suicide pact, and that he was unable to go through with it after Jolee died, however family and friends say she was not depressed, and that Bunner had lured her to the isolated spot on purpose.
He admitted guilt in July, 2017, and was sentenced to 52 years in prison.
